Tips for ski-touring

  • don't track too steep
  • also move your hip
  • avoid big steps
  • skis should glide
  • add some wax to the skis on mounting the climbing skins

Obernberg - Hoher Lorenzen (2.315 m)

difference in altitude: 920 m
duration: 3 hours
starting point: at Gasthof Egg – left to Fradertal

At sawmill Kofler along the creek to the end of the valley, pass the Hochlegeralm (1.948 m) on the right to the Flachjoch (2.124 m).  Right in direction South to the peak (national border).

Obernberg - Allerleigrubenspitze (2.131 m)

difference in altitude: 730 m
duration: 2,5 hours
starting point: at Gasthof Egg – left to the Fradertal

From the sawmill to the bridge - then to the third reversement. Follow the route along the Fradertal to the Haideggeralm (1.584 m). From here on the right side through the forest up to the peak.

Obernberg - Grubenkopf (2.337 m)

difference in altitude: 900 m
duration: 3 hours
starting point: parking area at the end of the village at Gasthof Waldesruh (chargeable parking area) 

From the parking area to the Obernbergersee, forward to the bridge (chapel). Then go left until you reach a large plateau (ca. 1.780 m).

Cross the creek in direction Grubenjoch (2.196 m). At the Grubenjoch go right up to the peak.

Obernberg - Muttenkopf (2.640 m)

difference in altitude: 1.200 m
duration: 4 hours
starting point: parking area at the end of the valley (chargeable)  

From the parking area in direction Waldbauer, along the forest road in direction Kastnerbergalm (1.734 m).

Beginning at the Kastenbergalm the forest gets lighter, go left across terrain without forests to the Muttenjoch. Again left across a steep hillside to the summit cross. 

Obernberg - Rötenspitze (2.481 m)

difference in altitude: 1.040 m
duration: 3,5 hours
starting point: parking area at the end of the valley (chargeable)

Same ascent as Muttenkopf but only to the second reversement. Above the Kastenberg alp (1.800 m) turn right in direction Lichtsee. At the same altitude of a distinctive hayrick in direction north-east across the vale and over the ridge to the peak.
